Cards Fan 1962 said...

I've been a baseball fan and a Cardinals fan since the early 1960s and Dan is the worst television baseball announcer I've ever heard. He's so bad he basically ruins every game for me. I finally can't take it any more and mute the sound and put on John Rooney and Mike Shannon. I don't think Dan ever played a game of baseball in his life - he just has no clue. And tonight (May 12th) that hissy fit he through in the game when he got mad at Al was ridiculous and hilarious at the same time. For the first time in my life, I'm e-mailing the booth this season. One game I swear I sent 12 corrections/explanations to him. And I got interrupted by a phone call and missed one inning. It's a shame a great, historic organization like the Cardinals don't have a good announcer. we were all spointed by all the great years of Harry Caray and Jack Buck I know, but come on! This guy is a complete moron.

One thing that us Cardinals fan have to put up every night is Dan's extreme man-love Dan has for Ken Griffey Jr. Dan would leave his wife in a heartbeat for Griffey. Griffey made two errors in one game this season against St. Louis and failed to catch two other balls that any other rightfielder in the world would have gotten to, but somehow Danny boy failed to notice it. Little Danny's extreme love for Griffey has been going on for many years, nothing new, but just watch going down the stretch here the rest of 2008. Any time Griffey gets a hit or actually manages to catch a ball, Dan will report it with great glee with Astroglide in hand. On the other hand, he absolutely HATES Manny Ramirez. Look for him to report each and every out Manny makes and never mention any hits or home runs. Dan & Griffey do have one thing in common. They both have the exact same amount of World Series rings, zero.

Dan is a great guy, a competent announcer, and a example to St. Louis youths. Give him a little slack--he may have not played professional baseball, but you haven't called a major league game either.
